It finally happened. I ran out of gas! When I got home last night after the Whitecaps game, I was bagged. I should start at the beginning. It was 4 am Sunday morning when I finally got to bed after the party. The Devlins from Campbell River and Mary from Chiliwack stayed over. Kaydence, who's four, was up at 7:30 am with no consideration for Fat Old Bastards.
Are you awake yet Uncle Dave? |
Here's the deal, eight grownups....one bathroom! You do the math! I managed to lay there in bed till almost nine before my over extended bladder drove me out to the "Yardinal" It's good to be a boy!
Around ten o"clock, after several cups of coffee, I made breakfast for the gang. Scrambled eggs done in this amazing herb butter that German Tanya makes and brought to Squatchapalooza. I fried up left over pork and beef and buttered a whole loaf of whole wheat bread.
Karen, Ally and Jen cleanup crew supreme. |
Jen and Christian and Willy and Annie showed up to help with cleanup just as breakfast was being served. Willy and Christian are my go to guys when I need a hand. And since Willy has given up ladder diving as a career, he's available for the next few months.
Willy and Annie post brekkie |
It took us only a couple of hours to get the place back to abnormal. That's mostly because the Devlins, who are country folk, and I, cleaned up the night before in order to deprive the roving night critters of a Squatchapalooza of their own. Put away the three popups and the furniture back in place. At 12:30 the River Rats headed for the ferry back to the Island. It was a short visit but we loved seeing them. They are back staying with us in two weeks for the PNE. Only there will be more of them! We can't wait? Just kidding!
Willy still had to pack up the lights, and I had to return some of the band gear to Guitar Bill who provided the PA. We were moving slow but, we were still moving! Annie took off to play baseball. Willy and I, of course, took a lot of breaks. It's freakin hot!
Hardly working! |
The other wonderful thing that happened was Willy, Davey Fletcher and his son Jamie gave me three tickets to the Whitecaps game at 5 pm. Christian, Chris and myself, hopped on the Skytrain and headed downtown to the stadium.
Open dome |
The roof was open and it was a glorious day. The energy generated by the Southsiders was overpowering.
Southside Crazies |
Fortunately my friend Wally (of the Willy and Wally movie matinee) was there to keep an eye on things.
Wally Guard on the job! |
It was a pretty good game with the Caps taking an early lead and potting one more before the half. Kansas City are the defending champs so this was a good test for the boys. We really enjoyed the game even though the Caps went into a defensive set in the second half.
2 - 0 Good guys and a shut down D |
KC was pushing hard but our defense was up to the task. As always after a win the Skytrain was loud and happy on the way home.
Lisa had a 1:30 am call time, so I was very quiet so as not to disturb her. Too quiet it seems. I woke up in my chair when I heard Lisa in the bathroom. That's why I'm writing this Monday morning.
It was an excellent Squatchapalooza this year. Lots of food fun and music.
Lisa does a great job of the food and we have so many talented friends it makes the whole thing easy...er. I have to get moving now. I am headed to Seattle with my buddies Dave and Eric Aplas for the Blue Jays game against the Mariners. Life is rough!
Geez I almost forgot. Sunday is Weigh Day. Everything considered I'm headed in the right direction.
Back under 290 and headed for glory!

Back under 290 and headed for glory!
That's all I got.
Till next time.
Peace Out Y'all
