Who's a Fat Bastard - Plum Suckin Coons

August 22, 2014

Lisa loves Italian plums. The first tree we planted when we bought our house was an Italian plum. You know who else loves Italian plums? Raccoons! We came home to a tree full of plum sucking coons!
Four of the thieving bastards. One of them took off right away. He/she went to the neighbours and sat there watching the show. The other three mostly kept eating. That was until Lisa started swinging the rake. One of them made a run for it only to be met by Elvis Buttmunch Jr. Everybody loves Elvis. Except the raccoon kicked Elvis's ass so I'd say, not a fan. In Elvis's defence the raccoon is at least three times his size. Elvis is five pounds on a good day.
A lot of growling and a couple of yelps and there was one raccoon left in the tree, and one Elvis being administered to by Lisa who dropped the rake to save Elvis. Keep in mind this is all happening in the dark. My flashlight is a windup that after five minutes of winding gives you one minute of light. The last one was sitting on our wedding arbour eating a freakin plum! I knocked his masked ass right over the fence with the rake. I heard him scurry across the driveway next door as I was frantically winding my flashlight. The really cool part is, this is all taking place while Karen and her three year old grandaughter Everly are in a tent under the plum tree!
The day didn't start out that exciting. As a matter of fact it was the exact opposite. I had a late start to the day. Turned off the alarm when it rang and slept till 9:30. The girls were already up and waiting so I made coffee and started on breakfast. We had told them we were going to Buntzen Lake today. I made scrambled eggs , sausage and bacon. Bagels for the girls. And some amazing Blackberries from my tenant Tamara's Papa.
Berry Berry Ami
He has a fruit stand on the Capilano reserve and brings fruit down from the Okanagan. I sent them outside to play while we did the dishes and packed a cooler. The phone rang several times and as always when you want to get going, it took forever. Left the house at the crack of noon. We once again got primo seating at the Lake.
The first thing to do is dunk the dogs. They both swim really well but don't like it.
The girls however swim very well and like it!

Ami under water
Lisa and Clarissa went of on a snorkel adventure and I thrashed around in the water. I can only do the breast stroke because I like to say Breast stroke. Kidding my shoulder won't let me do anything else.
Swim Buddies.
Squatch lobster
We ate the fruit and snacks we brought, went for another swim and kicked back till we were running late again.
The girl love a stage
We were meeting Brother Steve and friends at the dog beach at 5. It was after 3. We were still at the lake. We were bringing the food. We organised our duties as Lisa Andretti made record time home. She had chicken to fry while I made Tuna Salad and Guacamole.
All things considered, we were only an hour late. We all sat down immediately to eat.
It was a feast and everyone wanted their share.
Drop the Chalupa
We sat around on the beach and played a little guitar as we watched the most spectacular sunset.

LOn the way home we stopped at Dairy Queen because the people I love like to tempt me. I did not succumb to the temptation. The good news DQ Blizzards have no smell. The bad news, I am stuck watching Lisa trick drive with her knee as she wrestles with her frozen treat!
Now what am I going to do? I started with the end, and now I don't have an ending.

That's all I got.
Till next time.
Peace Out Y'all.
