Who's a Fat Bastard - More Christmas Crap

December 4, 2014

I was already lying there awake when the alarm went off this morning. It was  after all, Papa Squatch Dayscare.  Jen dropped Bella and Christo off at 8:30. They were running 20 minutes late already and she only lives six blocks away! Christo has no school today so he was just going to be Jammin' out with me.
Future Rock Star
I left him at home with Gramma Lisa and I walked over to school with Bella, and two bags full of stuff for the Christmas Fair tomorrow.
When I get home I finish yesterday's blog and post it while Christo plays 20,000 questions with Gramma Lisa.
The fire safety company was coming to check the smoke detectors in Jen and Christians  condo and I had to be there between 11:00 and 12:00 . We were at the condo at 10:45 Christo watched the movie Madagascar, which I had to admit had some very funny moments. I saw the truck from the fire inspection company out front when we got there. At 12:30 I went out and checked, the truck was gone. I saw the notice posted on the board in the lobby
that said they would be there between 11:00 and 12:00 and the phone number of the company. I got a hold of them and they basically told me not to worry about it. It would be good for another year. Well thank you for wasting that little bit of my life you inconsiderate bastards!

Christo and I did the drive through at McDonalds. Picking up a burger and fries for Gramma Lisa and Christo. I made myself ham cheese lettuce wraps and a salad when I got home.
Lunch for me
Christo had enough TV for one day so I was motivated to get him outside into the yard. He's too small to really help me string the lights but I gave him my camera and had him take pictures.

Rainbow fish attack

What do you mean you don't like Brussel sprouts?
It'll be interesting to see what he comes up with. He took at least six close up shots of the black garbage can.
I had to pick Bella up at school at 2:50 it was now 2:45 and I was up a ladder. "Come on Christo, we gotta go get Bella." I yelled as I headed out of the yard at a brisk trot. I get to the stop light, I turn around to tell Christo to press the button for the lights. He's a half a block behind me still trying to do up his coat with his mittens on. Why did he unzip his coat in the first place? He just does! I was also moving along at a pretty good clip. The poor little guy has to take three steps to each of my one. We missed the light. We were still there in time to meet Bella. Christo had just asked me if he could climb on the monkey bars when the bell rang.
Lonely boy

Bella was released into the custody of her Papa.
Bella couldn't wait to get back to our house so she could play with Nutmeg. I was out the back finishing up the Christmas lights.
Fish eye Christmas

Christian showed up about 3:30 to pick up the kids. Adam has  started working with Christian for Rod laying stone. He's my ex wife's sister Cathy's son. I don't know what that makes him but he's some kind of family! The stone mason work is killing him, he doesn't know how to work like a Mexican. He told me Christian is a machine.
It was pretty close to 4 o'clock and the Canucks were playing tonight in Pittsburgh against the Penguins. I watched the first period in Tiny TV town and then we were on the move.
Meaghan has been  in town from Campbell River taking a course in Burnaby. We were meeting with her at Tentatsu, our favourite Sushi place and one that I have written about several times, at 6:00. We haven't seen Megan since she and the family came down for the PNE last August. She's been reading about Tentatsu in my blog and is really excited to eat there.
Favorite Combo
Alida joined us as well. She's in town for a doctors appointment. She ate very little but wasn't feeling well. We spent the next couple of hours eating too much good Japanese food and catching up on the last six months. I still haven't reconnected with her dad and that makes me sad. We had a falling out last summer and haven't talked since. Stupid!  I need to give him a call.
My favourite River Rat

Meaghan was suitably impressed with both the quality and quantity of food that you get at Tentatsu. I met Meaghan on the day she was born. Her Mom, Karen and her Dad, Stu , my best friend, have been like family to me for more than thirty years. Lisa and I are always happy when we get to spend any time with her and her family. Even though Daryl never sent me any Moose meat.
We said our goodbyes outside the restaurant Meghan has a test to write in the morning and then is headed straight back to Campbell River.
The lovely Lisa and I meandered our way back through Burnaby towards home, looking at the Christmas lights. It's one of the lovely Lisa's favourite things to do this time of year.
We were in sight of the stupid store when the lovely Lisa suggested that we go in and get the stuff we need for tomorrow night's Christmas poker party. As far as the lovely Lisa was concerned, the timing couldn't be better. They had just marked  all the Christmas decorations down to half price. The lovely Lisa Christmas Elf was lit up like a candle and the smile on her face lit up the entire store as she dug through the discounted Christmas crap, we're getting very full.
More Christmas Crap.
When we got home she started rearranging the stuff that was already out to make room for the stuff that she had  just gotten.
The lovely Lisa went to bed at midnight while visions of discount Christmas lights danced in her head!
I sat up writing this blog and watching TV until 2:30.

That's all I've got
Till next time
Peace out Y'all
