Who's a Fat Bastard - Watch the early news and eat cheese.

January 1, 2015

First workout of the New Year
The first day of 2015 just flew by. Of course that will happen when you don't get out of bed till noon. Or out of your pajamas until 3:30 in the afternoon when you finished writing your blog.
Writing space, or lack thereof.
In  defense of my absolute laziness, it was after 4:00 a.m. when we went to bed New Years Eve/ Day morning! So in reality, I am running on six hours sleep. That's what I normally get for sleep. My six hours just started a lot later. I feel pretty good this morning. It's been twelve years since we have had a New Years Day hangover. That's how long it's been since the lovely Lisa and I stopped our recreational drinking. I still have the occasional beer but I never drink to get drunk, and the lovely Lisa not at all. In retrospect, all the really stupid things I have done in my life, have involved alcohol. I'm way to big to be out of control! But getting smaller.
When I finally finished and posted my new year's blog, I went down to the Green Room and did a workout.
We have a tradition that started here about Eight years ago when Mama Lee first moved in with us. Cuban black beans and rice with roast pork.
Sear the roast, be the roast
While I was down sweating to the oldies, I was listening to 650 senile, the lovely Lisa was preparing our Cuban dinner.
Ten sets of ten reps of my floor exercises, 200 One Stair Steps
and thirty minutes on the Iron Maiden listening to the talking heads talking about the Canucks. It was nearly five o'clock by the time I finished my workout and had a shower.
Sweaty man want woman!
The lovely Lisa had the pork roast in the oven the black beans and onions cooking  on the stove and the rice in the cooker.
Black beans.....mmmmm
I'm sure the recipe came out of a cookbook. Mama Lee has never been to Cuba. I've been to Cuba a few times. I stayed in peoples homes before that was legal. I never had roast pork. I was never in a home that even had an oven. I did eat a lot of pork though. Mostly BBQ or pulled.
I whipped up a nice Squatch salad and then went to pick up Mama Lee at her place.

Mama Lee was waiting when I got there. She's taken to wearing this blue Vancouver Canucks Santa cap when the Canucks play and since they had a game  tonight she was all decked out. She's almost obsessive now about watching the Canucks and the BC Lions. It started last year after her husband, Adrian passed. He was a big BC Lions and Vancouver Canucks fan. Now Mama Lee asks me pretty much every day if there's a game on.
The lovely Lisa had set up a cheese tray and Mama Lee settled in to watch the early news and eat cheese. When Mama Lee lived here with us, we strictly controlled her cheese intake. She didn't need the binding!
Dinner was ready just before the start of the Canucks game.

The pork roast was cooked perfectly and I even had half a scoop of black beans and rice. Also muey delicioso. It tasted even better when the Canucks went out to a 2 / 0 lead.

After dinner and halfway through the second period, with the Canucks up 2 / 1, Mama Lee wanted to go home. With a container full of pork, black beans and rice, I packed Mama Lee up and took her home.
When I got back home the lovely Lisa was watching episodes of Everybody Loves Raymond and I was on my way to tiny TV town for the third period.
The stinking Canucks gave up two goals in fifty-three seconds with two minutes left in the game to blow the win.
Shortly after the game ended and my tears had dried, the lovely Lisa told me she was tired and was going to bed. I tucked her in and watched some of the TV shows that I have recorded
and the lovely Lisa does not like watching. If it doesn't have a laugh track she's not interested. I like the dramas, Elementary, Blue Bloods and of course Family Feud. I was in bed just before 2:00 a.m.

That's all I've got
Till next time
Peace out y'all
