Who's a Fat Bastard - Sautéed Slug bums with a side of I'm not putting that in my mouth.

January 3, 2015

Whoa

Even though I usually write this the morning after, I've always started at the beginning of the day. Not today. At about 7:00 last night we decided we would go to Rivers Reach Pub  for dinner.
Chef Boy R  Lisa had worked today getting the truck ready to start  again on Monday. We made our way over to New Westminster
with the lovely Lisa Christmas Elf remarking on the lack of Christmas lights so soon after Christmas. I always take the outdoor lights down on the 7th of January. That is the last of the twelve days of Christmas. Walmart was sold out of Twelve drummers drumming so instead we had twelve chicken wings hot sauced!
We usually go to the rivers reach for their half price appetizers  between 3:00 and 6:00. That's okay. We usually eat too many of the appetisers, which are mostly deep fried anyway. The thought of having a beer didn't sit well with me today. I'm not much of a drinker these days and I really need to be in the mood to do a beer. Geez, that just sounds stupid! At any rate, it's the first time I can recall ever sitting in a pub drinking water. Rivers Reach has a large number of TVs, all of them tuned to various and assorted sporting events. With the turn of a head I could watch the late NFL game and the Canucks game pretty much at the same time. How good is that? They do a prime rib dinner special that is really good. We ordered one of those and a Deli pizza (all meat ). It seems like forever since I had pizza and I was looking forward to it.

We had an order of hot wings as an appetiser. The lovely Lisa and I always order two different things and then we share. It never used to be that way. I would order a prime rib or steak or something good, the lovely Lisa would order things like sautéed Slug bums
with a side of I'm not putting that in my mouth. Strangely I didn't want to share.
I don't know if it's just because I haven't had any in so long but it was the best pizza in the history of the world.

I'm going to assume that the issues that I have had since I ate that fabulous pizza are caused by the changes I have made in my diet since last May. I started feeling really tired on the way home. I know this feeling. I should have taken my blood sugar when I got home, I bet it was near 20. Instead I went to bed. It's not even 10:00 on a Saturday night!
I had a rough night. At 4:00 a.m. The Poop Fairy did a fly by, then she came by again this morning about 6:30. There's no need to go into the gory details just think about an upside down volcano.
I feel okay now. I will most definitely not be eating pizza in the foreseeable future.
I guess it's a good thing that it happened, otherwise I would have nothing to write about. Chef Boy R Lisa had gone to work to prepare her truck for Monday. I brought my amp out into the living room and turned on the talking heads to find out what was happening in today's NFL playoff games. I started thinking about my pal Stu who is on his way to Palm Springs for 2 weeks. The only time I ever bet on sports is when Stu comes to visit. I knew who's going to win today, so an hour before game time, I changed out of my pajamas, walked across the street to the 7-11 and  made a $10 bet.  Carolina and Baltimore to win. I came home and made myself a breakfast of Smokies and eggs with sauerkraut.

Then I watched football all day. Carolina totally dominated the game but due to turnovers were losing at halftime. They came back in the second half with their defence totally crushing Arizona and their fourth string quarterback. The Baltimore/Pittsburgh game was a little tighter. Pittsburgh was playing without their star running back and Baltimore's defence  was  teeing off on Pittsburgh's quarterback. Ca - ching!!  My $10 bet turned into a $24 win. Today Indianapolis and Dallas win? You can take that to the bank, or at least the 7-11.

That's all I've got
Till next time
Peace out y'all
