Who's a Fat Bastard - I was still in my pajamas

September 19, 2014

10:30 seems like a reasonable time to get out of bed. If you're a good for nothing layabout! Or a late night blogger. It's not as bad as it seems when you consider I didn't go to bed until after 3 am. I have been a night person all of my life. The problem lies in the fact that I'm a morning person too. That however is by choice. I set my alarm to wake me at 8, and most mornings I'm awake before it goes off. That's because I don't want to miss anything. Being on the road and with no real timetable i never set my alarm. And look where it got me! 10:30, barely a coffee in me, and Alida asking me to put her garden wagon together. I was still in my pajamas!
She did help me achieve a personal first. I slept in a Murphy bed. It was very comfortable.
I should have taken a picture when it was closed up but we ran off without making the bed.
I put her garden wagon together for her. There were more pieces than I expected.

I fortunate enough to have an audience. I couldn't have done it without the unrelenting advice from Alida and Lisa. Mechanical things are not my forte but I do know how to read. It also comes with pictures. After three hours, four skinned knuckles and several contributions to the swear jar, I was done.
I packed up the dogs and we were off like a foreskin in Jerusalem.

Alida has just moved to the Island after living in East Van for years. She got herself a nice little house within earshot of the barking Sea lions, we couldn't find. Turns out they are off killing Sockeye during the day, and come back at night to keep everyone awake.

It was after 2 pm when we pulled out of her driveway and headed north to Bowser. We decided to have some lunch down by the ocean so we headed into Rathtrevor Beach near Parksville.
We had a nice lunch of ham and cheese lettuce wraps with tomatoes from our neighbour Toni's garden, Plantain chips and pork rinds.
And a big jar of urine!
We are usually much better organised than this. We had only one small plastic spoon for utensils. Ever try to cut cheddar with a plastic spoon?
You can do it but it ain't going to be pretty!
It was a little bit chilly with the wind blowing in off the ocean.  Definitely needed a jacket. It was about 4:30 when we arrived at our friends place. Spencer was waiting with a couple of chickens to go in the oven.
We sat out on his deck and caught up with each other. Deb got home and we had dinner.
Greek salad with chicken, very tasty.
After dinner we sat around talking and enjoying the starry night. They have two very large black labs and we watched them get to know Mac.
Mac wasn't shy about letting them either!
We sat under the stars until just after 11.

Everyone went to bed and I wrote this blog.

That's all I got.
Till next time.
Peace Out Y'all
