Who's a Fat Bastard - Elvis lost his freakin mind

September 7, 2014

7 am comes early when you go to sleep at 2:30 am. Today is the annual Parkinsons walk. We have done it for the last few years and Lisa and Momma Lee even longer. Steve was meeting us down at Stanley Park for the walk. Registration at 9 the walk starts at 10.  We pick up Momma Lee at 8 and drive down to the walk. Registration has already started when we get there. We find parking not fifty meters from the start line. Momma Lee guarded the dogs while Lisa got us registered.

Steve and his friend Paul had already registered. With our new T shirts on, we waited till everyone else had left the start so we could get a picture of our band of misfits.
We did the 2 k walk, the walking part was easy. The controlling three dogs in a crowd, not so much.
It started off pretty smooth, like I said, we were one of the last groups to leave the start. Within minutes we were in the middle of the pack, pack of walkers that is. I mean handicap walkers. The kind people use to stay erect while walking. It is after all the Parkinsons walk. We managed to avoid most everyone up until the Balloon incident.
Elvis has a thing about balloons. He hates them, no, wrong word. He is terrified of them. As we were walking along a balloon attached to a women's walker broke with a bang. Elvis lost his freakin mind. He took off like a shot spooking the old lady with the walker. Which caused the old man pushing the wheelchair to run into the ankles of the Asian woman bent over the carriage of the child who had been crying for as long as we had been walking. That's when Mac went the wrong way around a tree and tore the leash out of my hand. Elvis was now under control with Paul at the reins. Mac went straight to the water dragging his leash behind him and me in hot pursuit. Willy says he likes the water, but this was not a good time for a swim. I caught up just as he started to drink out of Lost Lagoon.
It was a beautiful day today. It took us about forty minutes to walk the 2k. Lisa was found hiding behind a giant Genera.
And the Cormorants where taking a break from fishing to watch the parade of green clad humans with amusement.
It was a very pleasant walk and it made Momma Lee happy. She used to be very involved in the Parkinsons community. The progression of her disease put an end to that a few years ago.
Momma Lee, pleased with herself

We got Momma Lee home just as they were serving lunch. When we got to our house I did my exercises.
1000 Four stair Stretches.
200 One Stair Steps
With Mac looking on.
And of course I finished with 180 Belly Crunches.
I made Sausage and eggs for Lisa and I. I was then informed that we were going to visit Michele in North Van.
Michele's back yard
She seems to be coming out of her funk a little bit. We spent a couple of hours drinking coffee and talking, and playing with the dogs.
Lisa's call time was 2:30 am so we headed for home. Between the Parkinsons Walk and Michele's yard the dogs were asleep in minutes.
Tired Puppies
We got home and went to the Austin Diner for dinner. Combo B please!

Today was also Weigh Day. I hit the scale after my workout. No change really.
I walked the walk today and felt good doing it. I came home and did my workout and I shook the fruit out of my plum tree. And I still managed to watch a little football!
I feel good and I have a new T shirt!
New T shirt, just broken in!

Onwards to thongdom!

That's all I got.
Till next time.
Peace Out Y'all
