Sunset |
I had a terrible sleep last night. All I could think about was how I am being screwed by Holland America on the WiFi I bought. Fifty - five dollars for one hundred minutes. Apparently the newsletter tells you that you have to physically log out of their site or the minutes keep ticking. Their website on the other hand says To Log Out click here. Not, you must log out or we will steal your money. I spent an hour at the front desk last night basically being told to go shag myself. That's why there are no pictures on yesterdays blog. It had been uploading for eight minutes and was only 34% loaded and I only had fourteen minutes left. I removed the pictures and it uploaded right away. I tossed and turned for hours, my mind plotting the demise of Holland America Cruise Lines!
I haven't been able to upload any pictures so I am posting some random pictures of the trip. It will also let you see who I am talking about.

Momma Lee, the reason for the cruise. |
The drama continued this morning when we needed explanation as to what the $120.00 dollars a day charge on our Visa was for. "Security, It's not a charge , just a hold." The pretty little girl said in her heavily accented English. I said ""Thank you, and by the way your internet sucks!"
" Is there a problem Mr Ward?" I hate it when they call me that, Mr Ward was my Dad! I then ran through the litany of my complaints. They were not even aware of my previous nights conversation. I left before I did/ said something stupid. Between me and Auntie Janice, they are probably looking for a reason to chuck us off the boat.

Auntie Janice, Cathy, me and Dr Dan at dinner. |
I went up to the Lido for breakfast at 8:00 Cathy was there by herself so I grabbed a cup of coffee and joined her. I like to wake up my taste buds with caffeine before I eat. We shut down the Crows Nest Bar last night so several of our group were M I A. I went up and got my first breakfast. Three kinds of sausage, scrambled eggs and a bowl of fruit.

Lisa's twin Steve |
That's when Lisa's brother Steve showed up with a mouthful of Danish and a plate full of omelet. It was an egg white omelet that was made for someone else and commandeered by Steve, and of course a plate full of sausage to make up for the lame ass omelet. I went to Momma Lee's stateroom to take her to lunch in the dining room. It is an Ala carte menu and easier on Momma Lee than the buffet.

On the dock at Juneau
At 1:00 in the afternoon we docked in Juneau. I was not into going to the glaciers. ( the only ice I want to see is in the bottom of a glass of Scotch!) So I did Momma Lee duty. She wanted to go to the Catholic Church which is on Fifth Ave. Fifth Ave is five blocks straight up hill!

|
Hills in Juneau |
Have you ever pushed a wheelchair up hill for five blocks? Me either! There was no way, and if I had Internet I could load the pictures and you would say" Holy crap Squatch are you nuts" Yes I am but that's beside the point.
|
Tsinglit art |
At the base of the hills there was a small square with a waterfall fountain, some native art and a resident wino. Momma Lee wanted to meditate and pray for half an hour.
|
Meditating Momma Lee |
I wanted to read my novel and keep the Wino at bay. Juneau reminded me of Mexico. They have people out on the streets trying to steer you into their tacky jewellery stores. Fortunately Momma Lee gets tired easily and we were back on the boat by five. With twenty-two people in our group there is no way everyone is going to want to do the same things. Except dinner.
|
David, Ryland and Carlo. |
We all agreed to meet for dinner every night. We are seated at three tables side by each. Every night we sit at a different table to keep the conversation fresh and people out of their comfort zone. We have been the last group out of the dining room every night.
|
Dave, Dani, Dani's mom, Steve 2, Joyce, Leanna Janice and Uncle Charlie. |
Just in time for the 11:00 pm second supper. I had a cheese plate and some fruit. I was in bed and asleep by midnight.
That's all I got.
Till next time
Peace out Y'all
