Who's a Fat Bastard - Island Bound

July 24, 2014

Island bound. The same two words can mean two totally different things to two different people. Island bound, an adventure!....Island bound, trapped!!
Welcome to Horseshoe Bay
Lisa and I are on our way to Vancouver Island for the Devlin Family Hillbilly Hoedown. A can't miss on the summer social schedule. I've known Meaghan from the day she was born, and I can tolerate Daryl as long as he keeps the elk sausage coming! But first we have to get there.
Lisa worked yesterday from 3 am till 5:30 pm, she was in bed by 8:30. She had an appointment at 11:15 am,  then we were going to head out on our Island adventure. When I woke up at 9:30 Lisa was already in the shower. I poured a cup of coffee and turned on the news. No good news in the news today. When Lisa was dressed I opened the attic for her. I'm not allowed in the attic. We needed a suitcase for the trip. It's three days! Socks, bathing suit and a couple of T shirts in my backpack with a toothbrush and I'm ready to go. I gave the house a quick once over. Who wants to come home to dirty dishes and a messy house. If I want that, I'll get my daughter to house sit! I had the place pretty much done by the time Lisa was home.
Haircut Victim in waiting

Christian and Christo stopped by to say hello on their way to get Christo a haircut. No sooner had they left when the phone rang. It was Duffy, " I'm right across the street are you guy's in?" "sure Duffy, come on over" I said. It was now 12:30.
I was just opening the front door for Duffy when Steve came in the back door. Everyone was talking at once, Lisa was packing up some goodies for Duffy and Steve. Steve and Duffy were talking about Duffy's new job and I snuck off to watch some of the golf. Steve was going to see Momma Lee and Duffy sat down and watched a bit of the golf while Lisa packed. Next thing you know it's 2:10 and we haven't even loaded the car. "We can make it " Lisa Andretti blurted out. Start loading the car. I have a knapsack and a guitar case? There is however a giant pile of stuff that needs to be loaded. A cooler, Chairs, suitcases, guitar, miscellaneous bags of  I don't know what all covered with a Disney Princess Doggie blanket.
The Queen on her throne
I have to say Lisa can drive. We were at the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal at 2:50. Plenty of time to make the 3:10 ferry that just sold out. Next ferry 5:20. Packed up the dogs and headed into Horseshoe Bay to kill an hour or so. We walked as far along the waterfront as you could go. Let the dogs run around, took a picture and did it all again.
Coffee and a couple of Dogs
Nothing happened on the Ferry. We thought about eating but really... The new ferry has a salad bar. ($1.79 per 100 gms) I had a Squatch Salad in a bag in the cooler and a big hunk of cheese. I liberated a bowl and fork from the salad bar when the Salad gouger wasn't looking and I was in the salad business. The salad I had would have cost ten bucks.
Squatch Salad tastes better in a hot bowl!
We went back on deck and hung around for a while but it was windy. Lisa was very tired so we went back to the car and chilled.
When we landed we made our way to our friends in Bowser for the night. On short notice, they fit us in, fed us and sat up and talked till they were nodding off. It may have been the dozens of wedding pictures from Hawaii of people they don't know. Just a guess!

That's all I got.
Till next time
Peace Out Y'all
