These "Foots" where made for walking, and that's just what I did. Charlie and Janice went to work, Lisa and Laura took back the rental car and I did my crunches and stretches. Then I started walking, Google said it was 3.1 miles to Shop Rite in downtown Somerville.
Their house is 100 yards from the Bridgewater/Somerville boundary. It took me 38 minutes to get to the Hotel Somerset. The oldest continuous hotel site in the U S A. And the start of down town Somerville.

This is one of the nicest small town Main streets I have seen. The architecture the landscaping beautiful.
Unfortunately like many small American towns the economy has hurt them bad. That and the giant Walmarts and Home Depots out on the highway. I counted 27 empty store fronts on main street.
I am so tired right now and we have to be at the airport in Newark for 5:30 am. Janice is driving us so that makes it a little easier. On the other hand Lisa has so much crap to bring back I am going to need to grow a pouch! She keeps saying " Can you put this in your carry on?" If I get anymore of her crap I won't be able to lift it, let alone carry it on!
So I'll just get to the good parts. This town is dying. Like many American towns. No jobs, high crime and a atmosphere of defeat.
I said Hello to everyone I passed the only person who even acknowledged me was a 75 year old black man with a bottle in a bag. He has lived here his old life. We talked for a few minutes, He told me this used to be a railroad town when he was a boy. Now the train goes right past. He offered me a drink from his bag. I declined. Before I left I offered him a couple of bucks. " I ain't no bum" he said. "No offence intended" I said "I always paid my own way, and I raised four kids too." He said.
Every town in the area has one of these. A 9/11 memorial.
Okay here are the juicy bits. I weighed myself today when I got back from my walk. Hurt by the way. I've done something to my heel.
Anyway, it's 30 degrees here today, I'm tired and gotta get up early. We took Charlie and Janice out for dinner a nice Italian restaurant . I had the veal, Kalamari and a Cesar Salad.
I'm too tired to do the math I think 3 1/2 lbs.
That's all I got.
Till next time
Peace out Y'all
