Who's a Fat Bastard - Driving Miss Daisy

June 12, 2014

Took the day off today, sort of. I was up three hours before anyone else this morning. So I made a pot of coffee. Seemed like the nice thing to do. I poured myself a cup and turned on the TV to watch the local news. Not local really. We are in northern New Jersey. Right where New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York meet. They buy their gas in New Jersey, their Food in Pennsylvania and their clothes in New York, and can do it all in an hour. I forget how close everything is here. We're and hour from Manhattan, an hour from Philadelphia and an hour from Newark, not that I'm putting Newark in the same category as the other two. Man, did I get off track there.
Sadly, down here in the land of the free and the home of the brave, there was no good news in the news today. I love my American family but there are things down here that make me glad to be a Canadian. Nuff said. I don't want the wrong person to read this and I end up showing the nice man, with the rubber gloves how I can now touch my toes. Just saying.
I am on my third cup of coffee when I hear movement from upstairs. Good Lisa is up. Not. Meet Hank. Joan's cat.

Hammerin Hank

Like most cats, Heinrich as Joan calls him. ( He hates it) Only comes to humans when he wants something, mostly food. I opened him a can of something that looked good enough for me to eat.
I like this cat. Most of you know I'm a dog person. Hank is a good cat. This cat ate his breakfast walked to the front door went outside and did his business. You gotta love a cat that doesn't use a litter box. I haven't seen him since. Do bears eat cats? There has been a bear and her cub hanging around.
This is the part where I took the day off. I did my stretches in front of the TV in my pyjamas. I started just reaching for my toes while sitting in a chair. Then I got up and lifted my leg onto the back of the chair and stretched out my hammies. ( That's cool workout guy talk) five times on each leg. I think I'm getting more limber and lithe. Well, limber anyway.
By this time I have half a dozen cups of coffee in me. I needed to pee. As some of you may be aware, the older you get the smaller your bladder gets. I have the bladder of a ninety year old. Not only does it hold less, it gives you way less warning!
After a substantial, and very satisfying voiding of my bladder, I grabbed another coffee on my way to crunchville. I turned it to TSN to maybe see some world cup. Algeria was playing the U.S.
It was the 84th minute and a Nil draw. I lay down on the living room rug and started my crunches. I had the sound down low, so as not to waken anyone, and didn't have my glasses on. In like the 92nd minute the U.S. scored to win 1/0. I finished my crunches and got close enough to the TV to read the graphics on the screen. Not only wasn't it live, it was 4 years ago and taking place in South Africa,  not Brazil and spoiler alert, Spain won it all.
Made my breakfast and had another cup of Joe.
Breakfast of champions?

Eggs, avocado and tomato. Oh yeah, and more coffee. I have had a lot of energy since I started the program. Add a pot of coffee and I'm vibrating. That's when everyone gets up at once, only to find that I drank all the coffee. I'll treadmill later, I told myself as Poppa Dawg informed me we were going to see Uncle Paul in 15 minutes.
Still sweaty from my crunches I had the worlds fastest shower. I was washed, dressed and looking like an unmade bed. (My clothes are getting pretty baggy.)
Uncle Paul is a most interesting man. Built up a copier repair business for 40 years and has now retired to a life of leisure.

Uncle Paul, Lisa and I

We spent about 3 hours with Uncle Paul and caught up on each others goings on. He's one of the smallest people I have ever met but their is no end to his heart and generosity. It's always a pleasure to talk to him. We will try to see him one more time before we leave here on Monday.

Brothers, 77 and 76
Now comes the cool part. We went from Pauls to Greentown PA
Where Pappa Dawg has a home. I fixed some minor computer problems for him and went out side. Now comes the fun part. Meet Miss Daisy!

Lisa driving Miss Daisy
Poppa Dawgs 1932 Dodge Brothers coupe with rumble seat. Poppa has a house on an airport where Miss Daisy lives. I'm going to throw a few pics of her up. She's a beauty.

Poppa Dawg has a home on an airport he owns. A great place to speed like a maniac. Lisa drove and Daisy, who has a 350 Chev engine in her was happy to be out of the barn and onto the blacktop.
After a bit Lisa got into the rumble seat and away we go!
Now you see her.
Now you don't

Lisa should have probably tied her hair up. We had fun with the car for an hour or two. Then Headed back to Jersey.
I had planned to use the Don't tread on me treadmill, but when we walked in the door Joan was already laying out food. Tonight is clean out the fridge night. Some of the food, did not last long enough to get it's picture taken. The delicious Chicken soup went down in a hurry as did the locally made Kielbasa sausage.

Ham and Cheese

Watermelon

Quiche, Pizza, Stuffed peppers

And Cat.........just kidding.
The weather hasn't been that good this week and like I said before this is rural country. No where you can walk to. Ergo the Don't tread on me treadmill. Why do I feel so guilty? I am on holiday. I've missed only 2 days of workout in 43 days. I'll do some extra tomorrow. It was rainy and there was a little bit of wind but the temperature was very nice on the front Veranda. After dinner, guitar in hand Poppa Dawg and I strummed some tunes.

Frustrated Rock Stars.

I get so caught up in this I don't realise the time. It's three o'clock in the morning. I have a big day tomorrow. My first American Pedicure at 10 am. I can hardly wait.

That's all I got
Till next time.
Peace Out Yall
