Just because I love them |
Chef Boy R Lisa crawled into bed beside me at 4am. Not that I noticed. I was in bed reasonably early for me just after 1am and I sleep like a rock. I never wake up to the lovely Lisa's alarm but I always hear mine. Is that weird or does that happen to everyone. I know I have selective hearing. I think all married men do.I don't know if it's the same as the alarm thing but I know that both of them can get you in trouble. Sleep through your alarm, You got some splainin to do! ( See how I slipped a little Ricky Ricardo in there.) Pretend your listening to your wife next thing you know you end up at UBC Botanical Gardens with Mama Lee and the lovely Lisa while the BC lions are playing in the western final! "We'll only stay for a couple of hours" I was promised. Not only does Mama Lee move at Glacial speed she stops to smell every flower! Hey Lady, News Flash! They smell like flowers!!
We got back to the car just in time to hear the announcer say "See you next week in Saskatchewan for the Grey Cup" "Who won?" I screamed at the radio. Then the lovely Lisa changed the channel to all traffic all the time. But...but...but aw shit! I sulked all the way home while holding a Mandarin Honeysuckle that was developed at UBC. It's planted by the back gate and is now huge. I can't look at it without feeling a sense of bitterness. Stupid Flower Show!
Like I said the lovely Lisa had a late late night so I let her sleep. I did the laundry. Okay I didn't do the laundry. I took it to the top of the stairs and next thing I know, Michele was doing the laundry! She's still putting her space together and she's almost finished. Her Apple TV is working now that I have increased the bandwidth and she is spending a lot of time down there perhaps she is evolving into a Cellar Troll after all. She's got the place looking great. I did the floors, watered the plants, inside and out drank a lot of Jo and took away the last of the things cluttering the deck.
The lovely Lisa got up at noon and after a 20 hour shift she should have stayed in bed. It seems she put on her cranky pants on by mistake. I often fake sleep until she gets a cup of Jo in her.I went out into the backyard and started a fire to burn some small scraps of wood. The lovely Lisa was on me like a monkey on a mango! "You're not allowed to do that you know!" my beloved bellowed from the upstairs window. It made me think of Romeo and Juliet Squatchio, oh Squatchio, were for art thou Squatchio? I am here fair Lisaette, burning scraps of wood and avoiding you until you are well caffeinated! It's worked well for 16 years.
After lunch the lovely Lisa went to do some shopping for the party at Mark and Lea's. They were having a Beach Party. Also all the musical types will be there too. I'm taking my new Hollow Top to the party. It's it's first party a debut so to speak. I tuned up and practiced a little bit until the lovely Lisa came home. Oh Yeah I did this too.
The Avacado dip was a big hit. I misspoke in the Video the onion powder and the garlic powder are supposed to be 1 teaspoon not 1 tablespoon! Unless your a garlic loving onion head! I put a caption on that part of the video and I put the recipe on there too.
The lovely Lisa came home and made up a veggie tray and an Onion dip to go along with my Avacado dip. A bag of tortilla chips and we were out the door only 2 hours late! It started at 4 and we got there at 6:45. It was an excellent party. Good food, good people and lots of interesting music. I made my way to the stage, set up my gear and played for a solid hour with Tom on the stand up bass, Mark on accoustic guitar, Bill on lead guitar and Leon on Cajon and Conga. Some blues and some classic rock and a couple of originals for my part. We do a song circle so every one on stage gets to pick a song.
Mark and I early on. |
Tom on Bass, Moi, Jerry on sax and Mark on Accoustic |
Leon on drum and Bill Taylor on lead guitar. |
It was a good time all around. Reconnected with Hippy Bill who drove up from Oregon with his wife. He just moved out there last year from Pennsylvania after he retired. We met five years ago at Squatchapalisa IX. He was visiting from back east and was loving the Left Coast Vibe. It was an easy decision for him and his wife. He'll fit right in to Oregon. He's going to be around for Squatchapalisa XIV Pirates For Peace August 13th 2016 at Casa Lisa. Should be fun. Got home about midnight. It's now 2:47 and I'm calling it a day. I don't blog on Sundays. I'm hoping to do a double tomorrow. Rocky Point Pub at 4:00 then the Fireside in Sapperton at 8:30.
One more picture of some of the players |
