Okay it's not that I don't have anything to say. What are the chances of that happening? It's time and Wi-Fi access that's the problem. Okay that's not exactly true. It's more about being stuffed in Jen and Christian van with three other personalities and also BC Ferries lousy Wi-Fi. By the time I got connected we were almost to Nanaimo. But I'm getting ahead of myself. The day started with a lineup to use the bathroom. 5 adults and a three-year-old 1 bathroom. Michelle The Cellar Troll was the only one with a job to go to today. She was in the shower when I got up. Then we sat on the back deck and had coffee because Squidly was still on the couch sound asleep after his 13 and a half hour flight from New Zealand. It was funny, everytime I walk into the living room you would sit up and say I'm getting up now. Then I would turn around and he would be somethingplayed on the couch like a squid on the dock! Arms and legs everywhere. I finished my Cuppa Joe with CT on the back deck SCT left for work on the North Shore I headed for the bathroom only to find it occupied by Dr Dan. I had another cup of joe I had to use the yardinal. Buy now everyone was awake. Probably because it was 10:30. At this point the bathroom was still an unattainable dream. The lovely Lisa would snow in control of the bathroom facilities. Me being master of my own domain I was fine. Squidly on the other hand was hopping foot to foot like a Highland dancer! I watched with obvious Amusement for a few minutes before I sent him out to use the yardinal. Julia was getting hungry and as any of you with children know a 3 year old wants what a three-year-old wants! Blueberry pancakes it is.
I whipped up enough pancakes to satisfy everybody yet still I had no access to the bathroom. When I finally got in I'll tell you. I'm a pretty quick shower, and I was even quicker because the water was freaking near frozen! On the plus side my nipples were so hard I actually enjoyed washing them. But enough about me!
Next up was loading Jen and Christian Outlander van.
It's seven passenger and we got a crowd. Not on the way there they were only four of us. But coming back we will have a full load. Besides all the gear it will have two more people. Dr. Dan's son Ryland and his girlfriend Avery are flying in from Prince George Friday afternoon. Staying overnight at the Fairmont Airport with Dr Dan and Julia, oh wow look at you go . I'm sitting on the front porch at Hillbilly Acres and Cadence just went screaming by on her bicycle. Look at me Uncle Dave, look at me. As things come to life here it's getting more difficult to write. So I'll try to make it quick. We didn't make the 3:10 Ferry so we were on the 5:20.
We had a couple hours to kill so we left the terminal and walked along the beach in Horseshoe Bay.
If there was ever an unappetizing looking stretch of water it's at the ferry terminal in Horseshoe Bay. Once when you were on the ferry I spent the first hour trying to make their cheap Wi-Fi work so I could start on my blog.
I finally gave up in frustration. Sally go! Sally go! Sally the dog decided to lick my face and spill my coffee.
We made some sandwiches out of the food we had in the multiple coolers we brought. Ham no butter no mustard. Who thinks to pack condiments? I don't care I was hungry I ate it anyway.
Squidly bonding with his people. |
Out of the ferry Lisa Andretti took us on an imaginary shortcut that takes twice as long but does follow the Harbour around to the north side of Nanaimo. We took the Old Highway to Campbell River along the coast the whole way it was beautiful the sunset was amazing.
We stopped a couple of times for coffee. And rolled into the Royal Coachman Inn Campbell River at 9:30 to have a quick visit with Stu. Sandy M was just getting off work but still had time to say hello. It's always cool when you meet a Facebook friend in . It's not that I hadn't met Sandy in person before it's just been awhile. The kitchen was still open and everyone was hungry so we ate at The Coachman and Stu picked up the tab. That was nice of him. From there we proceeded to get lost on the way to Hillbilly Acres. I thought I knew where I was going. I was mistaken. At 11 o'clock we had to call Meaghan to come get us. She met us on the road to Loveland Lake and we followed her back to Hillbilly Acres.
.
We parked in front of the cabin with the lights shining through the door the cabin doesn't have electricity yet but Daryl ran an extension cord from his shop about 200 feet so we have one Outlet I was able to use my CPAP and not die in my sleep. We set up talking till after 1 a.m. pretty remarkable since Megan was up about 6 a.m. to go to work. But that's Meaghan like she always says I'll sleep when I'm dead. They just spent six days in New York City and it was great hearing the excitement in her voice as she talked about all the things they did in the Big Apple. The one thing they didn't do when they were there with eat apples.
That's all I've got
Til next time
Peace out Y'all
