August 15th 2016
We spent most of Sunday drinking coffee and cleaning up the yard. Our guests were amazing there was practically nothing to clean up. All the recycling was in the right place. All the garbage was in the proper containers. So it was just a matter of taking down the bar and the Bandstand.
I left the pop up over the band stand there. With the weather being so hot and Bella's 8th birthday party is next Saturday and they're saying the weather is going to stay like this for a while I thought it might come in handy. Willie Annie and Joyce stopped by to collect their things on their way to watch Annie play baseball. They play every Sunday up at Burquitlam Park. I plodded along in the heat, throwing myself in the pool every once in awhile. It's the last year for this pool. The grand kids are old enough I need to go to one that's deeper.
About 2 o'clock I told the lovely Lisa to take the day off just write me a list and I'll go into her work shop for her. She was getting up at 1 a.m. to go to work. On the other hand was not. So I went to the gym at the Rocky Point brew pub where I'm at my old friend Ian McDowell. We worked on so weird together. And I met his charming wife Caroline. Both Ian and Caroline are talented musicians who have run their own Jam in Victoria for years.
They got up and played with their friend Paul who borrowed my guitar. Another guy who makes my guitar sound better than I do. They did a nice tight four song set. Nice people and fun to be around. I was up a couple of acts later and brought Caroline on stage to play her flute on Marshall Tucker Band's Can't You See. It was the first time I played that song with a flute it might be the first time I ever played with a flautist. Maybe not I think Linda plays the flute too. I left about 7 to go do Chef Boy R Lisa's shopping. It was all done and I was home by 9. I thought about going to play at the Fireside but I was so done! I went to bed at 1:15 am when the lovely Lisa got up to go to work.
I woke in the middle of the night with leg cramps. Twice! That is not fun! I waterpic massaged my thighs, twice! I ended up sleeping till ten. I was telling Michelle with one L about it when she told me if it happens again eat a banana! I'll try it. That's probably why you hardly ever see a monkey cramp up.
Two cups of Jo and I was on the go. First I took the cans and bottles back. $20.60. Not bad a dime at a time! I bought a $12 max ticket and some scratch and sniffs for the lovely Lisa. If that Lotto max wins, we might just have another party! We have the best Return It Depot drop your stuff on the table and they do the rest. No Muss, No Fuss. When ever we cash in the empties I buy lottery for the lovely Lisa.Next stop was Jen and Christians to A: pick up the Grandkids and B: Drop 2 bags of garbage in the dumpster at the Condo. Mission accomplished. The kids were in the pool as soon as they could flip off their flip flops.
With the help of Michelle with one L I wrestled the Spit Pit out into the alley where we dumped the ashes and started to take the Spit Pit apart to fit it in the Rav4. We have rented the spit for 10 years in a row and other than the time I set the pork roast on fire it has worked out really well for us. One Stop Party rentals is only ten minutes from the house on Broadway at the Mary Hill Bypass. I dropped it off and a quick look over and I was good to go.
I stopped by Cheap Thrills for some peaches and stuff for the Grandkids and then headed for home. It turns out that Christian had a what looks like minor accident at work. He jumped over a railing and as he went down headfirst he whipped out his leg and smashed his shin on the rail. It was a nasty looking lump when I saw it but apparently it was way worse 6 hours earlier. I dropped the Grandkids off at home, had a quick visit with Christian then back to the house to spend a little time with the lovely Lisa. She's up at 12:30 am and then has to drive to Steveston. She went to bed and I headed out with the list she gave me before she went down for the count.
A quick stop at RONA for a heavy duty plunger for catering. I suggested that if that's a problem perhaps more fibre filled dishes are in order.Just saying. Plunger firmly in hand so to speak I went to Royal Columbian to see my buddy G McT he had a fall last week. Then they discovered he had an infection. He'll be in for a little while longer so send him good vibes for a quick heal!
I almost forgot, Next Door Gord was taken away in an ambulance. He was fasting for a test and decided longer was better. His blood glucose dropped so low he kept passing out. A bite to eat and a lecture from me and Alice and Next Door Gord was home and well.
After I went to see Gord I went to the Heritage Grill for the open mic. I had Maureen on drums, Dale on bass Vic on guitar and for the second day in a row I had a flute player on stage, Crystal was her name I learned after she did a sweet solo on House of the rising sun. We did Can't you see and she was gone. I did two more songs, one a request for one of my originals and when I got off stage she was gone.Flute and all.I finished my coffee and listened to the next act, it was Vic my guitar guy and he is a straight up country player. He did a good job as he serenaded me out the door.
I picked up a few things from Stupor Store that Chef Boy R Lisa needed and was home before 10 waiting for the lovely Lisa to get out of bed. I have the last bit of cleanup to do. Just putting stuff away. I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!
That's all I've got
Till next time
Peace Out Y'all
