Return of the Fat Bastard - Almost had a day of rest.

August 3rd 2016

At Trout Lake

I was up at 6:45 still half asleep as I dragged the garbage, compost and recycling to the back alley.....one day early! I clued in when I noticed that Next Door Gord hadn't put his out. Then it dawned on me, Holiday Monday. Idiot! Every holiday weekend pushes the pickup one day further into the week. I dragged the compost and the garbage back to their place and went back into the house. I woke up Joan of Montague, she likes to take her time preparing for the day and since we have only one bathroom she didn't want to inconvenience anyone. She's like that. Takes the world one day at a time and finds the humour in everything. Papa Dawg is still trying to learn to tell a joke. I told him he better hurry up, he's running out of time. It's weird because he gets even the most vague references and loves to laugh. I guess he's just one of those guys that can't tell a joke but he can sure appreciate one. This is a guy who bought an electric guitar for himself on his 75th Birthday. So if he puts his mind to it he can accomplish anything. Except maybe telling a joke. He speaks three or four languages and I think sometimes when he's speaking English, he's thinking in Czech, or Spanish, or Italian or ?????
Mistaken for Santa again!
I loaded their luggage into the car and the lovely Lisa took them to the airport.
I had a great week with Papa Dawg and Joan of Montague. They are so different than we are but the caring and kindness come through every time. Even when I strongly disagree with their point of view. Their attitude towards life is refreshing. They have shown us that life doesn't stop at 75, you just move slower. As Joan of Montague says "It gives you more time to look around" Hugs all around and an invitation to come down next year. As the Rav 4 moved off down the alley I went in and stripped the guest room bed. I was taking them down stairs to the laundry when Michele with one L said "I'll do that for you". Don't have to ask me twice. I finished yesterday's posting just as Christian and the Grandkids showed up. Clarissa is visiting from Toronto for a month. We've been so busy with Papa Dawg and Joan of Montague we have barely seen Clarissa. I'm supposed to do Papa Squatch Day Scare this week but if it keeps raining Christian doesn't work so he keeps the kids. Here's a replay of the song I wrote for her.Looking forward to spending time with her.

I put a ham in the oven that needed to be cooked and the lovely Lisa brought home some corn and some new potatoes. I,m really enjoying dining on the deck. About 6 pm it's the perfect temperature. There is usually a breeze and when there isn't, we can turn on the fan.  Lisa went and had a nap while I went to the bank and the pharmacy. By the time I got home the Jays game was on and I was sitting in front of it.
Trout Lake
After dinner I took the Ratdogs to Trout Lake. The lovely Lisa wasn't up to it after the week we've had but the Ratdogs haven't been off the property for a week. It's not a long drive maybe 20 minutes and it's off leash. The Ratdogs sniffed a lot of bums and peed on everything they could. Home before dark and now I'm headed to bed.

Ollie the next door dog. Barks at me every time.

That's all I've got
Till next time
Peace out Y'all
