I had a Super Sunday even though my Super Bowl pick was a flop. I was up at 6:30 a.m. so I could have my blog written by the time the Super Bowl pregame started. After three cups of drippy Joe I had my blog finished and posted. Slipping into my always fashionable workout gear, I made my way to the green room where I did my usual floor exercises.
Super Excited |
then 200 One Stair Steps, then I rode the Iron Maiden through one episode of Brooklyn Nine Nine. This show is so dumb its funny. It's like a remake of Barney Miller. Now I'm hoping some of you reading this are actually my age and will remember what Barney Miller was. It was a very funny sitcom in the seventies that took place in a police station. Ah hell,
just google it!
We needed to be down at Woody's' pub by 1:00 to claim our reserved seats. I picked up Christian and Adam and drop them at the door of Woody's then drove the four blocks to the Braid sky train station to pick up willy and Annie. I got a text from Christian telling me that I was not going to be happy with the location of our table. That seemed strange since Viki, the owner of the pub, has been a friend of mine for 30 some years.
When I got to Woody's' with Willy and Annie, Christian and Adam were waiting outside
" The table sucks" Christian said sounding like Al Pacino in Scarface " Say hello to my lilla Fren" Not only was the table in the worst location in the entire bar, it was underneath an archway, beside the stage, in the middle of the betting pool line up, there was no way you could fit six people around it. I spotted Viki across the room with W T F Viki written all over my face! "That's not you" she Said "You're In the Back corner surrounded by TV's. That's some other guy who calls himself Sasquatch."
I found our table and it was great. There was a big screen TV everywhere you looked. They have very good food at Woody's. We had chicken wings.
Baja style Halibut Tacos that were not just good they where "Sofa King Good"
And of course $12 jugs of beer
I don't think I stopped eating the entire seven hours we were there. It was a great game to watch, even if the wrong team won. The six jugs of beer made it a little easier to swallow. Christian and Adam did most of the damage. I stopped the beer at halftime and switched to coffee. I only had five or six sleeves of Canadian, about one an hour.
The lovely Lisa left at half time. Chef Boy R Lisa's 1:15 wake up time was only seven hours away. Adam was done by three quarters time and so was Willy.
Annie was having a blast right till the end and Christian was keeping pace. He wasn't driving and besides, he would pay for it the next day with Bella and Christo. By the time we left he was no longer sounding like Al Pacino in Scarface. He was sounding more like Ricky Ricardo
" Pete Carrol, yoo got some splainin to do!"
There were enough New England fans there that when the game ended, in such a horrendous manner, it didn't turn into a black hole of gloom and despair. There was three seconds of silence then the fifty or so Patriots fans exploded as two hundred stunned Seahawk babies, oops, I mean fans, watched the replays in horror.
Jennifer came down and picked up Christian and Adam and took them home. I drove Willy and Annie home to New Westminster and since the lovely Lisa was already asleep I went upstairs for a cup of tea. Willy is not a football fan. He told me that's the first time he has ever watched a full game, and he really enjoyed it. He watches Scottish football. He's a Glasgow Rangers supporter. We sat around talking and watching the Sports Media rip the crap out of the Seahawk coaching staff. Rightly so! It may go down as the worst play call in Super Bowl history.
In retrospect, I guess the six beers I had may have overloaded my system. I went to bed and was feeling fine after Chef Boy R Lisa left for work at 1:15 then up again at 5:30 sick as the proverbial dog! I'm not looking for sympathy these are self inflicted wounds. I was still on the teletoilet when 7:30 rolled around. Was it the beer? Was it the six Penguin bars I ate at Willy and Annies? Or perhaps it was the three day old chicken pieces I ate when I got home? We'll never know. I flushed the evidence. Where's CSI when you need them?
When I finally felt it was safe to return to bed I slept until 2:00 pm. I felt fine when I woke up. I don't think it was the beer. If I had to make a bet I'd say it was the rancid chicken! I have to be in Kitsilano before 5:00 to register for the BST course that starts on Tuesday.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
That's all I've got
Till next time
Peace out Y'all
