The best thing about the weekend is I don't turn on the alarm.
I still wake up at 7:45, but I wake up naturally, with my bladder screaming bloody murder. After I took the pressure off, I looked out the window and well, that was a mistake.
Once I see the sunlight, I'm up. That hasn't been an issue for the last while. Even when its not raining, its been pretty grey up here on the mountain. It was actually a good thing that I did get up because I still hadn't posted my blog from yesterday. Cup of drippy Joe and I sat myself down at the keyboard to finish what I started last night. The blog seemed to be very long yesterday. I think it's because I've been working out again. I find that my energy is coming back and when I have the Grandkids I'm always looking for something to do with them. The more I do the more I have to write about. It's not just about doing things. It's about the interaction you have with other people while you're doing these things. I can't think of a lot of interesting things I've done while sitting on the couch.
Blue skies over me |
With that in mind, I changed into my workout gear and headed down to the Green Room. I did the same workout that I've been doing for the last four days.
and ten sets of ten Stairless Stretches in the sitting position.
The Sun had come out today and I had a ton of yard work to do, so I only rode the Iron Maiden for thirty minutes.
I watched the pilot of Fresh Prince of Bel Air on Netflix. I had forgotten what a funny show it was. Will Smith is hilarious.
I need a shower!! |
Less than ten pounds from my speedo weight! |
had a bite to eat,

Hibiscus haircut. |
Time for a haircut! I have a hedge trimmer that I inherited from Annie and Willie years ago when they moved into the condo from their house. This is the first time I've used it.
Mr Hibiscus tree, "say hello to my lilla friend!" I cut it back to the level of the window and took all of the branches off of the side of the house. The lovely Lisa claims that the ants were using it as a ladder to get into the kitchen window. The lovely Lisa has a real thing about ants. We have ant wars here every spring.
Still too freakin big! |
First though we had to give the dogs another flea bath. They take it really well, all things considered.
This is so embarrassing |
Bath time |
The lovely Lisa thought she had it figured out when she was transferred to the accessible seating line twenty minutes before we were due to leave the house. The digitally reproduce voice at Ticketmaster said that the approximate wait would be two minutes.
Twenty eight minutes and thirty-nine seconds later, the lovely Lisa hung up the phone and we left for Rivers Reach.
We must have done something right today because we got the parking spot right outside the doors at the Rivers Reach. The place is always busy but on Friday and Saturday nights they do prime rib dinner and with half price appetizers from 3 to 6 and a Canucks game on TV, you have to get really lucky to get a seat if you don't get there early. It was crazy busy when we walked through the doors. We were hoping that Gord and Penny had already arrived and had gotten a table for us.
Not only did they have a table but they also had Wendy, Clayton, Annie and Willy with them.
The gang at the Rivers Reach |
We had one table for six. Unfortunately there were eight of us and only seven chairs! It took me five minutes to find a vacant chair. When I did find one I had to convince the lady beside it that her purse did not need it's own chair. It was a little bit crowded.
I shared five appetisers with The lovely Lisa and Willy. Gord and Penny ordered a pizza and everyone else had prime rib. After we ate I went outside with Willie to keep him company while he had a smoke. He was telling me a story about Bruce Ballentine,

who is one of the leaders at the Ridgeway Legion. When out of nowhere Bruce and his wife Pam come walking across the street to come into the Rivers Reach. It was karma or fate or something! They never go to the Reach.
Bruce is the Parade Marshall for the Remembrance Day ceremonies at Blue Mountain Park. Last year I took Mama Lee for the ceremony and she couldn't see anything. She's in a wheelchair and there were more than 3,000 people circling the monument
Bruce, Pam pizza and prime rib remnants |
Bruce is going to arrange for Mama Lee and myself to sit beside the veterans up front. Bruce and Pam have attended a couple of our big summer parties and were very happy to help out in any way they could. They also invited us to come back to the Legion after the ceremony for lunch. Oh yeah, he said the deal was off if I vote for Lou Sekora for Mayor. No worries, he's running against a Stewart and we're a clannish lot.
At 7 o'clock they put on the Canucks game. In order to do that, they turned off the Saskatchewan/Edmonton football game with the Eskimos down seven points and driving with seven seconds left on the clock. There was a table of four Saskatchaweenies sitting right beside us who lost their minds! By the time they got the game back on it was over and they were running commercials. The Saskatchaweenies were pissed. They were also Canucks fans. It wasn't going to get any better. Talk about ruining a good meal!
After the fourth goal in the first period, I think I threw up in my mouth, just a little bit. I don't even know what the final score was.
We left before the second period was over.
We said our goodbyes at the curb and then the lovely Lisa and I went over to Annie and Willy's for a pot of tea. It's a funny thing.
I bet I've been showing up late at night for a cup of tea at Annie and Willy's for twenty-five years. Some things just feel right!
That's all I've got
Till next time
Peace out y'all
