No Papa Squatch Dayscare, no Mama Lee appointments, no nothing. So I turned on the TV in the bedroom when I woke up. I just lay there until my bladder would not let me lay there any longer. I must have laid there a good ten or twelve minutes! It seemed a lot longer. Since I was up, I was up. It was seven forty five. I didn't even try to go back to sleep.
I watched the news in bed and finally got up for good about 8:30. I made myself a cup of Joe and sat down to check my emails. Nothing!
Today was Willy and Wally movie day. I was meeting them in New Westminster at 11:30. I had plenty of time so I ran the dust mop along the floors, took out the recycling and the dogs, then set up the lap steel and started practising. I'm really enjoying learning to play the lap steel and I'm actually making music. As long as the music has no minor chords!
About 10:45 Bro Steve arrived at my place. He was going to pick up Mama Lee and take her to have lunch with her friend Mary downtown. I thought he was going to borrow the truck to drive Mama Lee. Instead he had Lindsey's van. It's kind of a mid-sized Sprinter thing. It is quite low to the ground and easier to lift the wheelchair in and out than it is in my truck. Steve was here to get the legs to Mama Lee's wheelchair. I had them in the truck since that has been the only vehicle we use with Mama Lee.
After Bro Steve left I went back to practising my lap steel.
I played a little bit of guitar and generally wasted time. Then I drove down to Lougheed Town Centre to get on the Sky Train to New Westminster. Everything down around the Sky Train is under construction. With the new line going into Port Moody the whole area is a mess. I parked the truck at the mall and walked the obstacle course to get to the sky train. There was safety tape guiding you to the temporary stairs that took you to the not functioning escalator. What wasn't there was a ticket machine. They only had the new Compass machines. The ones you need a Compass Pass to use. As I walked up the last of eight flights of stairs, the train pulled into the station. I had no ticket and the ticket machine was a long way away. I was on my way to the ticket machine when it pulled in. I swear. I was already pissed that they didn't have one where I entered the station. So I stepped onto the first car just before the door closed.
I was right at the very front of the train and I was the only person on that car. I sat in the driver seat in the front window and videotaped the journey. It was pretty cool. I'll have to do it with the grandkids one day.
I wouldn't make it as a criminal. I was stressed out at every station. What if they asked to see my ticket? I saw Sky Train employees with their blue jackets in groups of two at every platform. Evidently their job is to stand around joking with each other. They should be checking tickets, looking for Scofflaws like me. The system loses millions every year. I guess you can add another $2.75 to that total.
I was off the SkyTrain at the New Westminster station and met Wally and Willy at the Hub Restaurant.

I had a beer that I didn't enjoy, and caught up with Wally. I see Willy all the time, Wally not so much. Wally's been retired for a few years but he started working as security when the Olympics were here in 2010. Since then, he has worked most of the events at the stadium, Whitecaps, Lions, concerts. Getting paid to watch the paying customers watch the show. Slick gig. He just got his assignments for Grey Cup and was quite pleased with the way it worked out. It's sold out, but without the Lions in the game the atmosphere will be considerably calmer. Do they have riots in Hamilton when they lose? Or is that a Left Coast thing? Maybe they're just used to losing. After all they do live in Hamilton.
We were going to watch the new Brad Pitt film, Fury. I liked it it had a good story and the acting was very good. My one complaint is half of the story takes place in a tank. It was so dark and monochrome it was at times, difficult to watch. The battle scenes were amazing. Are they realistic? I don't know! I've never had my head taken off by a tank shell. If you like World War II war movies, you'll like this one.
After the movie we went back to the hub. Wally and Willy had beer and appetisers. I had a coffee. The Hub Restaurant is one of those new style joints that specialise in Craft Beers. I don't like Craft Beers. I'm not much of a drinker anyways. I'll have a Bud or Coors light to be sociable, but it's been years since I drank recreationally. I don't like beers that I can taste two days after I've drank it. I'm throwing this in just to offend all my Scots/Brit friends. GUINNESS SUCKS! I can taste that crap for a week after one pint. We talked about the film, like friends do. Pointing out our favourite scenes and best lines. We were generally in agreement that it was worth seeing. All in all, I give it three and a half Nazis out of five. For sure, it was no Planet of the Apes!
It only got one and a half Bananas out of five.
You get on the Sky Train right outside of the front doors of the Hub. I paid. I couldn't take the strain. I'd make a lousy spy! I swear when I saw my reflection in a window it screamed "NO TICKET!" Four stops later, conscience clean, I'm back at the truck. Without my house keys.
When I left the house today, I left without my house keys. I had the truck keys so it didn't seem like such a big deal. That was until I got the text from the lovely Lisa saying lunch has been pushed for three hours. That means instead of serving at 2:00, they would be serving at 5:00. The last time, maybe ten days ago, I locked myself out, which I do on a regular basis, I climbed through the bedroom window using the step ladder. I left it outside the window and when the lovely Lisa saw it she freaked. The first thing she did was lock all the windows. To quote Homer Simpson, "DOH!!"
I called Jen and Christian because they have their own set of keys. They were just getting ready to take the kids for dinner
at Dennys. Tuesdays kids eat for free! The apples don't fall far from the trees. And Jennifer is definitely the Fruit of My Looms! I got some loving from the grandkids and the keys to the house, and headed up the road. Jen is off for a couple of weeks so no Papa Squatch Dayscare for a while.
After today the lovely Lisa is off for ten days. Maybe I can talk her into a road trip. For now, it was 7:30 by the time she got home.
I had already eaten. Meatballs, chicken & salad for dinner. The lovely Lisa was in bed by 8:00. Her call time tomorrow is 3 a.m. The lovely Lisa had just finished a seventeen hour shift and was going to get seven hours sleep before she does it again. That's the job. That's why she works three days a week.
After the lovely Lisa went to bed I watched a couple of movies on Netflix. Pain and Gain with Mark Wahlberg and the Rock has to be in the top ten worst movies of all time. The other one was, The Heat, with Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock. It had some good lines, a shit load of vulgarities and hell, who doesn't like Sandra Bullock.
It's now 1:30 a.m. and the lovely Lisa will be getting out of bed soon. I'm falling asleep in my chair buried under a pile of small dogs. I roused myself from my impending coma and turned on the Wii. I did my Wii fitness, I'm twenty-four. Then I worked my way through the training exercises until the lovely Lisa got up for work. A quick kiss goodnight/good morning and I was down for the count. I'm having picture trouble at the moment. I think I somehow corrupted my SD card. Up until now I've only corrupted women!
That's all I've got
Till next time
Peace out Y'all
