The lovely Lisa with a handful of Scratch and Sniffs for Paul's BDay |
After last night's jam, I didn't roll out of bed till 10:20 am.
My throat was sore but a good sore. The kind of sore you get from singing too loud and too long. When you're on a bandstand with four or five talented people and get lost in the music, it is just the most fun. Daryl knows how to host a jam. I want to thank Mark and Leah for inviting us along.
The only reason I got out of bed as early as I did was because the lovely Lisa was shaking my fat ass awake. "We're having brunch with Paul in North Van in forty minutes. Get out of bed!" she said in her least sensual voice. Not the way you want a beautiful woman to wake you up on a Sunday morning. "That's bullshit Honey, it's football day!" I said in my head. "Yes dear" is what came out of my mouth. I was still half asleep, I hadn't had a cup of Joe and what was the point in starting a fight I wasn't going to win? I took my meds, washed my face, brushed my teeth and pretended to comb my hair. I have "Clown Hair" starting big time! The BC Lions were already losing in Montreal and the Seahawks were losing in Kansas City. The day was not starting as I had hoped. I put both games on the PVR and got into the car today was Paul's 65th birthday.
Paul at three years old |
Friends of his own the Cornerstone Cafe at 22nd and Lloyd in North Vancouver. We make great time between the traffic and the construction closures we were only 20 minutes late. How is there this much traffic? Don't they know there's football on? It's a funky little, out of the way Cafe, nestled in a residential neighbourhood that specializes in multiple flavoured egg Benedicts.
Paul and Sarah and eggs benny! |
The food was okay, the company was excellent. Paul is a political junkie and so am I. We had a rather robust discussion of yesterday's
municipal elections.
Paul's a great guy, and I enjoy our discussions. Lisa and Steve could live without them.
Paul, Sarah, Lyndsey, Steve and the lovely Lisa. |
I just couldn't relax the whole time we were there. All I could think about was yesterday's blog, sitting there on the computer just a mess and a jumble of words.
My Breakie, which came after everyone else had eaten. |
We were there for three large coffees or two hours whichever you prefer. Not only didn't they have football on TV, they didn't have a TV! I was in football purgatory. It's like people always say, "It's the not knowing that's the hardest part." Oh yeah, and there was cake..for Paul.
Cheese cake Paul |
We said our goodbyes outside the cafe, Lindsey and Sarah going their separate ways Paul and Steve headed off towards Deep Cove and Lisa and I went to visit our friend Michele, who lives only a few blocks from the Cafe and who also doesn't watch football.
Michele was in a good mood. We had a few laughs and spent about ninety minutes with her. I had another cup of coffee and now my eyes were actually twitching. Michele and the lovely Lisa along with Bro Steve are ski buddies. For the last few years they have bought season passes up at Cypress Mountain and ski every chance they get. I am so jealous! I wish I could ski.
Michele's been going through some challenging shit for the last year. She's finally starting to bounce back. Its like having my old friend return from a trip. Though I wouldn't recommend it, nasty breakups for sure knock the pounds off you! She looks great!
Thinking about it, she's kind of the perfect example of the difference between men and women when they go through a breakup.
In the first stage, she gathers around her girlfriends and they verbally dissect and eviscerate the poor bastard.
In the first stage, a guy drinks.
In the second stage, she stays home eating ice cream and chocolate, feeling unwanted and unloved.
In the second stage, he drinks.
In the third stage, she loses the 20 pounds she put on when she was with the dick! She starts working out, going to parties, meeting new people and getting on with her life.
In the third stage, he drinks.
We're not nearly as complicated as women give us credit for.
It was 3 o'clock by the time we got home and I still hadn't written yesterday's blog. I did however have a bunch of paragraphs, ideas and thoughts noted down on the tablet. I transferred all of it on to the Mac and then just dragged it around till it almost made sense. I didn't get it done and posted until 5:45 p.m. Forty-five minutes after the lovely Lisa had gone to bed in preparation for her 1:45 a.m. call time. It's been a lot easier for her to go to sleep at the ridiculously early times, since I put up the blackout curtains. Our bedroom is now pitch black with them closed.
With the lovely Lisa already in bed, I packed up the dogs and went up to Cheap Thrills to see what I wanted to eat for dinner.
They have nice strip loin steaks on sale for $4. 69 a pound. I bought a package of two, each one about one pound .
I stopped by Mama Lee's on the way home to remind her that she needs to be ready to go to the speech therapist by 10:00. Our appointment was at Burnaby General at 11:00.
Twenty minutes later I was heating up the pan and getting ready to watch the BC Lions and Seattle Seahawks games I PVR'd, when I saw the scores. They both lost. The Seahawks to Kansas City Chiefs and the BC Lions were absolutely humiliated by the Montreal Allouetes. Still there was more football on. Sunday Night Football. The NFL shouldn't play football at night! I have not seen one good Sunday night or Monday Night Football game this year.
You would think that New England / Indianapolis would be a great game. Brady vs. Luck. No such luck! Pun intended. Tom Brady was Tom Brady and he exposed the Indianapolis defense for what it was. It was awful. They gave up a hundred and ninety nine yards, mostly up the middle, to the third string running back and Tom Brady showed Andrew Luck how to play quarterback in the NFL! Another Sunday night blowout. The game was so one sided It almost ruined my dinner.
MMMMMM Steak! |
I spent the rest of the night watching episodes of The Mentalist that I had on PVR and writing this blog. It's now almost 12:30 a.m and the lovely Lisa will be getting up in a few moments to go to work.
Last but not least. Weigh Day! Well alright, it is the least. The least I have weighed in fifteen years!
I am losing between one and two pounds a week. Eating properly and working out every other day.
I drank so much coffee today I'm pretty sure I will be awake long enough to post this tonight. Okay, at least before I go to bed.
It seems I was wrong on the posting last night thing. It's 9 a.m. and I've been up since 7:45. Now I need to put in the pictures and post.
That's all I've got
Till next time
Peace out Y'all
