Return of the Fat Bastard - Goodbye Mother Mary

June 15th 2016
Early (circa 1986) promo shot

The day started off the same way it has for the last 3 days. Cold and rainy. I had set my alarm for 6:45 so I could take the garbage out after being busted last night. Usually once I see the sun I'm done .  But I stayed up last night until the lovely Lisa went to work at 2:30 a.m. so running on 4 hours sleep I was able to go back to bed and slept till 8:45  when the alarm went off again . I got things to do !
We are off on another road trip. This time to Campbell River with my best friend Stu who I'm picking up at the airport at 2:30 this afternoon. Then Lisa and I are going to take him home to Campbell River. He and the whole Murray Clan have suffered a tragic loss and I want to be there for him and with him.
Back  to this morning. I barely had the first cup of Joe in me when Christian came through the back door. I had a load of stuff to drop off at Value Village and I had told him yesterday we would go to Home Depot and find him a toilet. I told him with all the Mexican food he eats he should get a nuclear-powered one! But I digress. I dropped off a bunch of stuff we needed to get rid of that was still usable at Value Village and in return they gave me two packs of flower seeds and 25% discount card.
It turns out they don't actually make nuclear powered toilets. However they do have electric ones. Ahhhhh a cold morning a crossword and a heated seat!
The bathroom in their condo is teeny tiny so we needed to make sure we got the proper size and shape bowl. Also you want the taller one. The 16 and a half incher. I'd hate to have my knees seize up if I ever had to drop a nuclear dump there! I have my own gastrointestinal issues with Mexican food. But damn it it tastes so good. We picked out the appropriate apparatus and brought it back to put in one of my sheds waiting for me to return from the Island to install it.
No sooner did Christian leaves then Michele arrived. In between loads of possessions headed down to the Green Room we sat out on the front deck and had coffee surrounded by the amazing array of plants that the lovely Lisa installed and I am tasked with keeping alive.

If I had my way, if you are going to grow something, I prefer to grow something you can eat. Ergo my beautiful tomatoes.

.50 tumblers

The lovely Lisa always tells me that there are lots of edible flowers. This is true, and they all taste like shit!
While Michelle was tinkering downstairs I was cancelling a couple of appointments that we won't be able to make because we're going to the island. Most notably the Ratdogs Vet visit. They  need their booster shots.
Michele had a shelf that fit perfectly in the laundry room. That solves a storage problem nicely. I'm way ahead of the game. The sun came out  I'm sitting on the front deck surrounded by the aroma of the Jasmine drinking coffee and I already have this much written.

Now it's time to head to the airport and pick up Stu. I'll be back later!
And later it is. 12:30 am and Stu and I are binging on Bosch. Great series on Crave TV. Prior to that I only had to circle the airport three times before the parking Nazis would let me stay long enough to actually meet Stu. On our way cross town to fill me in on the events of Mary's funeral. She was 86 years old and has been a great deal of her life helping others through her church and through the seniors centers in Oakville. She had touched so many people's lives that there was an overflow crowd at the church. We reminisced about vacations we took in Florida and California and times spent together over more than 35 years. Mary was one of the few people in my life I never saw angry, I never heard her raise her voice to anyone. We had plenty of time to catch up since I made the mistake of driving home through New Westminster. With the construction that is going on it took 20 minutes to go 10 blocks. Stu has had nothing to eat but toast at the airport so we put his gear in the house and walked over to the Austin Diner for a bite. They make very good diner food and they have several big screen TVs that were showing the Blue Jays beating up on the Phillies.
I threw a chicken in the oven. Because the lovely Lisa told me to. Stu cracked a bottle of wine and we toasted Mary's memory. She is now and always will be missed. When the lovely Lisa got home we had Chicken & Ribs for a 9:30 dinner. And that brings us to now. 6 episodes of Bosch later we called it a night. Off to the River on the 1 o'clock ferry.

That's all I've got
Till next time
Peace out y'all
