Return of the Fat Bastard - This morning the Sun came up and life goes on.

August 9th 2016

The day started out cold and wet. I have a full day ahead and the traffic station is not exactly inspiring optomism. Crashes on every bridge. Transport trucks on their sides on the exit ramps. All in all a smorgasbord of bad drivers doing the best they can to ruin everyone else's day. After two days of sunshine then an overnight rain the streets were slicker than snot and the demolition derby that followed was as predictable as death and taxes.
Fortunately I was on my way to New Westminster to visit my friend In the hospital. No traffic problems for me. I stopped and grabbed a paper and a muffin for my friend and actually found free parking. I was on top of the world. My friend is having a real hard time. He's in a lot of pain and has some kind of infection they can't pinpoint going on. I didn't stay for long. He needs to rest and he needs to be medicated!
I made it home in time to grab a quick bite then off to take Mama Lee for a manicure at the mall. We have to take a taxi these days I am no longer able to help Mama Lee into the into the Rav4 and the Handi Dart is to approximate time for my schedule. So taxi it is. I arranged for a 1:00 pick up and they were right on time. 15 minutes later we were at the Mall. I had told Mama Lee that we would find her a watch. She`s been wearing one of mine. An Old Guy watch with hands and giant numbers. A good old fashioned, take a licking and keeps on ticking Timex. Mama Lee wanted a Swatch or a Rolex. Who doesn`t The Rolex was quickly dispensed with when she saw the price. The Swatch`s all have small numbers and the wrong kind of bands. The Bay, Time Co, London Drugs and a jewellery store later, no watch.
We arrived for Mama Lee`s manicure and my Pedicure about 10 minutes early. They took us right away. Mama Lee has a woman named Ami who has done her nails for years waiting for her. I asked for Helen but for the second time in a row she wasn`t there. Iéve never had a bad pedi there so it doesn`t really matter who does it. It`s just that Helen is younger and went to school here. She speaks English perfectly and is the only one who talks to me other than ``Hello and Put feet here!`` They all speak Vietnamese and talk to each other all the time.  I`m pretty sure that they are talking about me.  `You should see this guys feet, he got Rhino toe and Chicken legs!``
I was all pedied up and Mama Lee`s nails were perfect,  Lee Mama  almost bought a watch at the Bay it was a Casio for $90 I told her Walmart sells the same watch for $60. Mama Lee remembered. We were back on the trail of a watch for Mama Lee. Mama Lee ended up buying an Old Guy watch with hands and giant numbers. A good old fashioned, take a licking and keeps on ticking Timex. The same as the watch she was wearing only gold colored. Taxi back to her home and I was free and rushed.I had an appointment in town at 4:40 and it was now 3:15 It was a callback and I had a good read. We`ll see, I`ll know by today.
I have thought long and hard about wether or not to write this next part. Ultimately I figured if I can critique my families behaviour I should do the same with my own. I did something really stupid and it`s costing me. Upon leaving my appointment I drove around the corner and had a couple of hits off of a Doobie I had brought. 5 blocks later I was pulled over by the police. He smelt the weed, he saw the roach in the ashtray I was given a roadside suspension, they took my License for 24 hours and impounded my car. I`m not telling you this looking for sympathy. I screwed up and I screwed up big. I wasn`t charged but I`m sure it`s going to cost me a lot of money. Still not the point! The point is the utter embarrassment I felt standing at the side of the road. At least they didn`t cuff me. I was left at the side of the road as they towed my Truck away.
I called the lovely Lisa who was just doing her cleanup at the studio just down the road. I walked up to Boundry and Hastings to the old Jake O`Grady`s, it`s Oscars now, where I sat and had a coffee and a Burger. It was a good burger but I still had a bad taste in my mouth.
When the lovely Lisa called I crossed the street so it would be easier to pick me up. She could have, and maybe should have pointed out how stupid that was. She didn`t instead she did her best to make me feel better. That`s the lovely Lisa. I was in bed before 10;00 still with that feeling of shame permeating my consciousness. Sleep came quickly followed by emptiness. No dreams. This morning the Sun came up and life goes on. Without a license or a truck, a notch less self respect and a lesson learned!

That`s all I`ve got
Till next time
Peace out Yàll
