Dream Sequence |
The day started with me lying awake in bed waiting for the arrival of the Grandkids. My alarm went off at 7:45 but I was not especially motivated to move. The bedroom was the perfect temperature and the fans were moving the air around nicely. I can lie back close my eyes and dream that I feel the breeze off the ocean as I lay in a hammock. I may have nodded back off to sleep. I don't remember. One minute I'm floating in the blue waters of a tropical island. The next thing I knew a monkey was throwing coconuts at me and calling me Papa! Turns out it was the Grandkids.
The tree swing broke. While Clarissa was swinging. She wasn't hurt just startled. It's been there for 15 years and the bottom half is rope that just wore out. I'll get to it. With Squatchapalisa 14 looming next weekend there is a lot to be done. A tire swing might be cool. Hey, anybody got an old tire lying around? I've got one under the deck but it's too small. I don't want some chubby kid getting stuck! I have been stuck in small places on a number of occasions but none as a child or ever in a tire swing. Though I did break my nose trying to kiss a girl on a swing. So much for spontaneous romance.
Today is a double down Papa Squatch Day Scare Extravaganza. The plan was a picnic lunch at Buntzen Lake. You know what they say about the best laid plans. My Agent called and they want to see me at 1:40 for some thing. I went out to tell the kids the lake was out when they said they wanted to stay at the house, Cool. Gramma Lisa and Michelle with one L were feeding the Grandkids, Evan, Michelle with one L's grandson, as well as Matty and Payton. Quesadillas all around while I worked on the 10 or so lines I needed to have down in 2 hours. I had a solid read. It`s for sure a look thing and there were a number of different looks available. I have another audition on Monday. I`ve had more this year than I have in a couple of years. I even managed to book a couple of things.
The Grandkids, Matty and Payton were in the pool where the raft was a big hit. Jumping off the ladder and staying on the raft was the game. Is that bad Grandparenting?
It seems that these days we live in a world of what if. What if the kids head? What if another kid jumps on him? What if Papa Squatch throws a toaster in the pool? I'm so tired of the what ifs. When I was a kid my dad would give me a pointy stick and tell me to go play on the roof of the garage. Well I guess you can never really compare Generations. I can't believe how much energy these kids have they feed off each other. They've been getting along great too. Poppasquash don't like whiners and they know that! We had hamburgers and salad for dinner. The kids couldn't eat fast enough there was a pool to jump in. They jumped in and stayed until after 8 o'clock. Then it was back onto the trampoline while I build a campfire so we can roast marshmallows or is that toast marshmallows?
I think it's probably both the lovely Lisa did a fabulous job of toasted marshmallow. Christo on the other hand definitely roasted his marshmellow I could tell by the flaming torch that it had become. Grandma Lisa came out of the house with a bag of Oreos so that they could make eratz smores.
As you can see the marshmallow treats were a big hit. After they had consumed their weight in marshmallow goodness they were back on the trampoline. They sure come up with some imaginative games. As the night grew darker I let the fire burn down and just after 9 I got the in the house, into their pajamas and in front of the TV for a Disney Film called I don't know. I let Clarissa pick it. It's about how the evil Queen in Sleeping Beauty became Evil. I was a little worried about Christo because he's the youngest and had already asked me if it was scary. "Of course it's scary" I said just in case it was. "If you get scared you can watch Square Head Sponge Pants in my office. Never happened, loved the movie and was actually awake at the end.
That's all I've got
Till next time
Peace out Y'all
